Believe it or not, just as your mood can change due to the lack of sunlight, so can your hair. Each step in the process is important for various reasons and is responsible for growth, transition, rest, and shedding/regrowth, respectively. Without melatonin, hair quickly goes from the anagen phase, or growth phase, to the catagen and telogen phases. In a few months, it will finally reach the exogenous steps and fall.
Your scalp relies heavily on your hair during the summer months to protect it from UV rays, so in the spring when we start to come out more, our hair quickly absorbs melatonin and begins to thicken. Because we become more limited to sun exposure later in the summer and no longer need hair this thick, in October we start to see more hair going into the exogenous phase.

Foods like salmon, avocado, nuts like almonds that load with fatty acids (the good kind of fat) can not only strengthen hair but also do wonders for your skin during the drier months. Take care of yourself
While it seems obvious, our hair is harder to take care of than it should be. Honestly, sometimes it seems impossible to get the perfect style like the messy bun day in and day out. However, protecting your hair can help prevent unnecessary loss from breakage and overworked hair.
First of all, make sure you are using products that will protect your locks and encourage growth. With the thousands of products available, finding the perfect shampoo or styling cream can be difficult, but a little research can save you tremendous agony. In particular, avoid anything related to benzene, phosphates, sulfates, and silicones. While all of these ingredients certainly help cleanse oils and keep hair hydrated, the long-term effects can far outweigh the temporary good. I know it can be more than attractive, but one of the worst things you can do for your hair is over-styling.
